Google self driving car involved in an accident with a van in California

Report from California state police says a Google self-driving, Lexus RX 450h was involved in a crash with a van in Mountain View, Calif. on Friday afternoon. Although nobody was injured in the accident, the car according to local media, reported that it was on self-driving mode when it collided with the van.

This is coming just days after the U.S. Department of Transportation made new policy regarding self driving cars. According to U.S Dept of transport, this is to ensure the U.S. can be a leader rather in the area of autonomous vehicles, as well as protecting the traveling public.

Report, says a Google employee took over the operation of the self driving car, applied the brakes when the van’s driver began crossing an intersection, possibly running a red light.
